About the Water Essay Competition 2.0
In 2024, Rector Cares Foundation successfully launched the inaugural Water Essay Competition, inviting young Nigerians to reflect on water poverty and propose creative, sustainable solutions. The competition received hundreds of entries from students across multiple states, with a female student emerging as the grand winner and receiving ₦500,000, mentorship, and recognition.

Rector Cares Foundation invites your school to participate in the Water Essay Competition 2.0 – an initiative that gives students a platform to share innovative solutions to Nigeria’s water challenges.
This year, we are scaling the impact with Water Essay Competition 2.0, which will:
- Award up to ₦1,000,000
- Recognize runners-up with ₦200,000 and ₦100,000 prizes
- Provide mentorship, internship opportunities, and educational resources to exceptional participants
- Amplify youth voices in national conversations about water security and sustainable development
- Engage students, teachers, parents, and communities in collaborative problem-solving
The competition aligns with Nigeria’s educational objectives and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 4: Quality Education, SDG 6: Clean Water and Sanitation, and SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities)
